Xbox P2P ?

In a follow up to my comment, I experimented a bit tonite and indeed I was able to get the xbox to receive broadcast packets. This means that it would be possible for xboxes to find each other’s UPnP Media servers by broadcasting their search requests (and notify) on the broadcast address. This is very exciting. It would be possible to stream from one xbox to another. How sweet would that be? Of course, that means I need to buy a second xbox. Any donations are welcome ;-)

I’m sure that if you your PayPal account in the XBMC forums (topic thread about UPnP) asking for some donations to buy another Xbox that you will get enough to buy one (or two) used Xboxes. A friend of my made a couple of great deals when he bought used Xboxes; what he did was buy them fully loaded with many relativly new games (and many controllers, a DVD-remote and RGB-scart cable), he recieved around 10 original games with each used Xbox (which be bought for $150 each with all the stuff), he then turned around and sold those games seperatly for an average $10 each meaning he got $100 back, so in the end he got each Xbox (with many controllers, a DVD-remote and RGB-scart cable) for $50!

PS! If you decide to develop a UPnP server with RUI for MediaPortal in the future then I’m sure you will recieve even more donations (from both MediaPortal and XBMC fans) if you ask for it, to buy TV-tuners and stuff for a HTPC.

Can you please add Apple’s bonjour/rendezvous discovery too?

Apple’s Bonjour (formerly known as rendezvous, a.k.a. ZeroConf)
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bonjour/

Zeroconf Vs. UPnP
Zeroconf shares three functions with the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) family of protocols: IP address assignment, service discovery and port forwarding. They both use link-local addressing for IP assignment, but different methods for discovery and port mapping. Zeroconf is noted for its greater simplicity, however.

Could you add auto-discovery into KAI in XBMC as well?

LiveB8,

Zeroconf is already implemented in XBMC using libDaap. There’s no autodiscovery support though like I did for UPnP.

Would it be hard to add autodiscovery to libDaap now?
is libDaap compatible with Apple Bonjour/Rendezvous?
