Lullaby
I kinda like this song I just heard on the Jack Johnson radio. Do you?

My little component runs great. Let’s see if I get notified via IM for this post …
Hello everyone and happy new year !
We just got back from our trip to Europe over christmas and even though we’re happy to be back and leave this cold weather behind, it just got replaced with rain and storm. What is wrong with the planet these days !?!?
Anyhow, after a complete fuck up from Intertrust about my trip to CES, I ended up staying here and not go to Las Vegas (which is fine given my jetlag at the time and the no-surprise-no-excitment of the show this year).
I am now completely overwhelmed with learning too many things in too little time. For example, I realized I cannot be a true hacker without knowing linux so I am now running a dual boot on my laptop with XP and Fedora. God this is hard! Additionnally, I have to learn Java and Eclipse. Soon I’ll be able to rewrite the Rhapsody server ;-) AHAH.
Seriously, I am surrounded by very smart people and I feel like an idiot all the time. I feel the pressure to prove myself and this is something I haven’t felt in a long time. I guess it’s good but it’s frightening.
I met with Adam also over the holidays and he’s looking for a job so I got him to apply at Intertrust .. we’ll see where it goes but that would be nice to work with him again.
Got to go back to learning java! Will post more later….
I did it. G. convinced me to use his little C++ library called Neptune
for SNDK. I spent 2 weeks working on it and it’s now working “comme sur des roulettes”. I got to learn a lot about Neptune which is good since I will most likely use it at Intertrust. G. gave them a free license. Anyway, I tweaked it a bit , added a few cool stuff to it and fixed a bunch of bugs to my code as well. Since it’s compiling under .NET, the code is a lot smaller. The little device test is 2/3rd smaller. Gotta put that project a side for now. I got a lot to do at work. Maybe I’ll work on it in a few months. Although after seeing G. UPnP server in Java and how simple it is to write in Java, I can see myself giving up on C++ in the next few years. It’s insanely convenient as you become lazier with age.
Highway 101 sucks! As you guess, I started my new job last week. I was actually surprised to see that I can pretty much get there in 35-40 min in the morning. It was also pretty good timing on the way back at night after 7:30pm. My big mistake was to leave friday night at 6:30pm. HELL NO!
Took me 1h30min. I am better off waiting next time or going to work earlier in the afternoon.
Anyway, besides the traffic, I love the job already. I am working with geniuses and I am going to learn so much. I am already using Eclipse, writing Java and hacking the Palm OS on a crazy device from Sony that only exists in Japan. You can guess my next task is to learn Japanese ’cause this freaking device UI is all in kanji!
I talked to my old buddy nick yesterday and it seems that K.’s blog made him change his mind about the whole blogging concept. Check it out! Collin is just too cute in his buzz lightyear outfit. Infinity and beyond !
